Intelligence Collection Management
Intelligence Collection Management is the process of managing and organizing the collection of intelligence information from various sources. The collection department of an intelligence organization may attempt basic validation of that which it collects, but is not intended to analyze its significance. Collection managers are required to know both the technical capabilities of the systems upon which they work and the information needs as articulated by their supported commanders or customers; in the US intelligence community, where NSA, CIA or DIA, or any other agency or service element requiring that service. Collection managers act as the eyes and ears of the commander and translate his information needs into achievable goals of collection throughout the intelligence community.
