Linguists provide services that include translation, interpretation of foreign languages. They offer additional skills that are best described as assisting in the prosecution of cryptologic collection and analysis of information gleaned from that action. They further provide expertise to customers about cultural and social interactions of their targets. Linguists serve an important part of the Intelligence community and their value is often understated.
